Harlem resident Minhee Cho, 24, was subject to racism by Papa John's restaurant as the receipt for her small pizza had her identified as "lady chinky eyes."

“I don’t think a giant corporation should write those things on a receipt,” Cho told The Post last night. “That’s poor management. It was surprising to see that on paper; if they had said it in person, it would have been worse.”

“I probably would not go there again, because they would probably spit in my food,” said a resigned Cho, who is Korean. “I live in Harlem; this is normal.”

The latest advertisements for Luxury fitness company Equinox has started a new debate - would like to go to the gym to become "healthy and strong" or "sexy and skinny"? The photographs in the advertisements by controversial photographer Terry Richardsonseem to be promoting the later.

As advertising for a fitness center, the whole endeavor seems misguided. Sure, the photos are eye-catchingly sexy. But how exactly are they promoting fitness? And what does sex have to do with it? And moreover, why are the women so darn skinny and waif-like?

Fashionista pointed out that certain Equinox customers are asking the same questions, posting comments on Equinox's Facebook page like, "Another couple million spent on the degradation of women. Good work fitness guys." Another Facebook user wrote:

Why did all of the models have a runway physique? Equinox is promoting health and fitness, so I would like to see some healthy and fit women on their ad campaigns who look like they could actually survive a typical Equinox class.. Can we maybe see a little bit if muscle on the ladies next time around? The Nike ads are great examples of strong, fit women!

A record sentence of 15 months in prison was given to a 22-year old man in Southern Sweden who ”sadistically” tortured a puppy to death. It is supposed to be the harshest sentence given to anyone for animal cruelty  in Sweden.

The puppy was discovered by a pre-school class in March this year. While playing in a wooded area outside the school, the children found a black garbage bag, oozing blood.

Police later found a dead puppy in the bag and took it to a nearby animal hospital, where it was established that the little puppy had been badly beaten.

During the trial it became clear that the man had bought the nine-week-old puppy to be a companion for him when he moved to Stockholm, but that he soon started neglecting it.

He locked the dog in a cellar storage room and in the toilet. When it urinated and defecated on the floor he beat it, both with his hands an with its leash. He also allegedly hung it up by a hook.

The animal finally died after the man had put a plastic bag over its head and held a blanket around the body. According to the man, he was feeling upset and took his anger out on the puppy.

“I think it's just awful; they can't do this to people,” Amanda Kazemi told the Götegborgs-Posten (GP) newspaper following the incident.

“Children and people with illnesses also eat at McDonald's. What would happen if they one of them got this inside of them.”

Kazemi purchased the burger on Tuesday at a McDonald's located in the Nordstan shopping centre and was just about to dig into when she noticed the maggot.

When she brought the burger back to complain, employees at the McDonald's reacted in horror.

“They said, 'Yuck!',” according to Kazemi, who subsequently refused their offer of a new burger in exchange for the one harbouring the unwanted guest.

Employees at the McDonald's in question refused to comment on the incident, however company spokesperson Frida Berg called the incident “regrettable”.

“I can understand why the woman is upset, things like this absolutely can't happen,” Berg told GP.

“This is the first time I've ever heard of something like this happening.”

Berg emphasized that McDonald's has “high demands” for its suppliers, adding that she found no fault with how restaurant employees' treated Kazemi following the discovery of the maggot on her burger.

Willie Vega, a 44-year old teacher at the High School of Commerce Teacher got so angry during his performance review that he punched female Vice-Principal during performance evaluation. He first stabbed the review with a pen and then crumpled it. He then allegedly punched the administrator in the face, and blocked her from leaving the room.

Vega, who has been placed on administrative leave, will be arraigned Tuesday in Springfield District Court.

In the first detailed account of the incident, police said Vega became enraged while reviewing his evaluation during a meeting at the State Street high school.

Grabbing it from the vice-principal, Vega stabbed it with a pen and then crumpled it up, said Sgt. John Delaney.

“Mr. Vega then stood up and punched the vice principal in the face causing her to fall from her chair,” Delaney added.

When the vice principal attempted to flee her office, Vega blocked the door, forcing her to use a portable radio to call a police officer assigned to the school.

By the time officer Jason Sleeper arrived, the teacher had gone to another part of the building; he was allowed to gather his belongings, and then escorted from the school, police said.

The vice-principal was taken to the hospital and released after being treated for a contusion on her face under her eye.

At a disciplinary hearing Thursday at the School Department’s Main Street heardquarters, Vega refused to answer questions based on advice from a teacher’s union lawyer, Timothy Collins said. Source: www.masslive.com
